Eamon is a molten ball of screeching energy as he spends his days running around the dunes with the other kids in a play-group. Beautifully acted, tightly scripted and confidently executed, Eamon serves as a snapshot of modern Irish sexual mores.
Corkery is constantly on the lookout for a moment of idiosyncratic surrealism, be it a maddening repetition, an unexpected line of dialogue or in a standout moment, a bubble of potential romance popped by a surprise revelation. The director wields her sharpened stick with extraordinary facility, and most of her jabs find their mark.

Watching this elegantly mounted Oedipal comedy you'd never guess that director Margaret Corkery and DOP David Grennan had only a small six-figure sum at their disposal. Made under Project Catalyst, a government initiative designed to encourage new talent, Eamon could easily be subtitled How to Make a First Time Feature Film. Ms. Corkery cleverly works around a tiny budget, grinding big universal themes from streamlined narrative, three leads and a keen flair for naturalism. It's both an excellent film and a solid blueprint for future filmmakers.

'Corkery has delivered a film that feels original, vibrant and funny, without being afraid to go dark on occasion. It's a breadth of fresh air in a sea of mediocrity.

'highly original and tonally assured.........Eamon gets to grips with the unspoken hostility, born of intrusion, that often simmers between young children and their inexperienced parents.'' Donald Clarke, Irish Times

'Eamon plays like the most expensive low-budget film you've ever seen. The result is a fabulously fresh and highly entertaining first feature.' Dimitri Eipides, Toronto Film Festival
